SUMMARY:US National Security Strategy and National Defence Strategy
DESCRIPTION:The Council on Geostrategy\, in partnership with Lockheed Martin UK\, is delighted to invite you to a half-day conference\, entitled ‘US National Security Strategy and National Defence Strategy’\, as part of our UK-US Strategic Forum series. The event will take place from 09:00-12:30 on the 30th April\, 2026\, at 10-11 Carlton House Terrace\, London\, SW1Y 5AH. \n\n\n\nAt the operational level the UK-US relationship is one of – if not the – deepest and most functional between any two allies. Forged in the geopolitical contests of the 20th century against mutual threats of continental hegemons\, the ‘special relationship’ has served the shared interests of both countries. But this relationship is changing. Britain and America’s interests are no longer as closely aligned\, and at the strategic level\, the bilateral relationship is often taken for granted and therefore insufficiently explored. The Council on Geostrategy\, in partnership with Lockheed Martin UK\, will convene a series of strategic fora dedicated to exploring key geostrategic issues related to the ‘special relationship’ to help bridge this growing gap.  \n\n\n\nThis first session will discuss the areas of alignment and divergence that are highlighted by the US National Security Strategy (NSS) and National Defence Strategy (NDS). The strategic forum will bring together key British and American stakeholders to explore what specific ‘deliverables’ the US expects from the UK to maintain its status as a preferred partner\, what specific divergences threaten the UK-US relationship in terms of theatre prioritisation\, and to what extent theatre ‘cross-pollination’ is desirable. \n\n\n\nSpeakers to be announced soon! \n\n\n\nFor more information\, please contact lena@geostrategy.org.uk.

SUMMARY:Maritime Leaders’ Shipping Forum 2026: Session One
DESCRIPTION:The Maritime Leaders’ Shipping Forum aims to foster a dynamic network of young professionals and established leaders in maritime affairs. The forum is kindly sponsored by Wallenius Lines and is delivered in partnership between the Council on Geostrategy and the UK Chamber of Shipping. \n\n\n\nThis session centres around: ‘Contested logistics in the High North and the Baltic Sea’\, two regions where NATO’s ability to move assets and supplies is vital to reinforcing and sustaining operations in the event of a crisis. For many decades NATO has faced limited threat of interdiction to these efforts\, but the threat picture has rapidly worsened. The session will explore what the critical vulnerabilities are and how we can ensure supply and reinforcement in the region including through closer civil-military cooperation\, greater redundancy\, and active defences. \n\n\n\nThis event will be off the record and will take place at The In & Out Naval and Military Club\, 4 St James’s Square\, London\, SW1Y 4JU. Attendance is by invitation only. \n\n\n\nFor more information\, please contact ellie@geostrategy.org.uk.
