Mark Galeotti joins as an Associate Fellow

Today the Council on Geostrategy can announce that we will be working with a new Associate Fellow, Dr. Mark Galeotti.

Mark Galeotti is an Honorary Professor in the School of Slavonic and East European Studies at University College London. He is an expert in modern Russia, particularly its security, politics, and intelligence services. He has advised and given evidence to a wide range of bodies, from the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee and the NATO Parliamentary Assembly to Interpol and SHAPE.

On joining the Council on Geostrategy, he says: “The Council on Geostrategy strikes me as a nimble and even iconoclastic force within the national conversation about Britain’s future, willing to look forward rather than back, and ask questions people don’t yet know they need to answer.

Brexit is only one of the changes reshaping Great Britain’s place in the world, but along with the challenge of climate change and the opportunities of economic disruption, it does call for new ideas about this country’s geopolitical future. Having returned to the UK after over a decade abroad, in the USA, Russia and Europe, I am very eager to be involved in these discussions and happy to have found a think tank positioning itself to influence and lead them.

Mark has written several articles for Britain’s World, which can be found here and here. He will be a speaker at our upcoming event on the 15th of July about the future of the Minsk Accords and Russia’s occupation of Ukraine, which you can register for at this link.

You can find the full list of our associate fellows here.
