Main areas of expertise:  Japanese grand strategy, United States, People’s Republic of China, Korea, and European security and foreign policy Prof. Nobukatsu Kanehara is a Professor at Reitaku University, Kashiwa, Japan. Previously, he served in the Government of Japan as Assistant Chief Cabinet Secretary and Deputy Secretary-General of the National Security Secretariat between 2013 and 2019. He also served abroad as Deputy Chief of Mission in Seoul, Minister at the Embassy of Japan in the United States and Minister of the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations.
