Since our founding in March 2021, we have led the way in developing a new generation of geostrategic thinking for a more competitive age. The timeline below outlines our greatest achievements:
The Council on Geostrategy becomes the Secretariat for the AUKUS All-Party Parliamentary Group, which provides a forum for parliamentarians interested in the AUKUS agreement between Australia, the United Kingdom, and the United States.
We launch the inaugural UK-US Strategic Forum at Carlton House Terrace in London. A partnership between the Council on Geostrategy and Lockheed Martin UK, the Forum aims to enhance knowledge and understanding between British and American strategists and stakeholders.
We welcome Maj. Gen. Paul Tedman CBE, Commander, United Kingdom Space Command (2024-2026), to address our Geostrategy Forum.
We publish our geopolitical atlas entitled ‘Britain’s world: The strategy of security in twelve geopolitical maps’, which provides 12 visualisations to explain the National Security Strategy and the Strategic Defence Review. The atlas is edited by James Rogers, Co-President (Research), Council on Geostrategy.
We host the International Sea Power Conference on behalf of the Royal Navy. Keynote speeches include those by Luke Pollard MP, Minister of State for the Armed Forces, The Rt. Hon. James Murray MP, Chief Secretary to the Treasury (2025-2026), and Gen. Sir Gwyn Jenkins, First Sea Lord, Royal Navy.
We welcome Lord Coaker, Minister of State for Defence, to speak at our Geostrategy Forum.
We launch our study entitled ‘“The ‘special relationship”: Preparing Britain and America for a new era’ in partnership with the Embassy of the United States, with opening remarks from Luke Pollard MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Armed Forces (2024-2025).
We host a scoping seminar for the National Security Strategy in partnership with the Cabinet Office for 25 participants.
The Rt. Hon. Maria Eagle MP, Minister for Defence Procurement and Industry (2024-2025), speaks at the launch of our report entitled: ‘Securonomics: The contribution of a Defence Industrial Strategy’.
We launch our Sea Power Series, with R. Adm. Luc Raynal, Defence Attaché, Embassy of France, as the first speaker.
We launch our Sea Power Laboratory with an event at Trinity House with remarks from The Rt. Hon. James Heappey, Minister of State for the Armed Forces (2022-2024), Luke Pollard MP, Shadow Minister of State for the Indo-Pacific (2022-2024), and V. Adm. Andrew Burns, Fleet Commander, Royal Navy (2022-2025).
The Council on Geostrategy publishes a Point Paper to explain how Britain, Poland, and Ukraine can work together to expedite a Ukrainian victory over Russia using an enhanced deep strike campaign. The paper is commissioned by the Secretary of State’s Office of Net Assessment and Challenge (SONAC) in the Ministry of Defence.
We host the First Sea Lord’s Sea Power Conference 2024 on behalf on the Royal Navy. Keynote speakers include The Rt. Hon. Grant Shapps MP, Secretary of State for Defence (2023-2024), Arsenio Dominguez, Secretary-General, International Maritime Organisation, and Adm. Sir Ben Key, First Sea Lord, Royal Navy (2021-2025).
We establish our Whitehall Briefings series, with Brig. Mark Goldsack, Director, UK Defence and Security Exports, Department for Business and Trade (2020-2024).
We host the Indo-Pacific Conference 2023 in conjunction with the Australian High Commission and the Indian High Commission to review the United Kingdom’s interests and posture in the Indo-Pacific region.
The Council on Geostrategy launches a podcast entitled ‘Defence Talks: Securing UK advantage’ in cooperation with ADS and BAE Systems. Hosted monthly by Viktorija Starych-Samuoliene, Co-President (Strategy), Council on Geostrategy, and Paul Mason, the podcast discusses important issues relating to British defence policy.

We host a Geostrategy Forum with Dr Robert Johnson, Director of the Secretary of State’s Office of Net Assessment and Challenge (SONAC), Ministry of Defence, to unpack the refresh of the Defence Command Paper.
