Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom to NATO
Ambassador Angus Lapsley CMG is the UK’s Permanent Representative to NATO, a role he has held since April 2025. Prior to this, Angus served as the Assistant Secretary General for Defence Policy and Planning at NATO from September 2022 to March 2025. He was also an external reviewer in the UK’s Strategic Defence Review 2024 to 2025. Angus previously worked as the Director General in Strategy and International at the Ministry of Defence and as Director for Defence, International Security, and South East Europe at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. From March 2015 until September 2017, Angus served as the UK’s Political and Security Ambassador to the European Union.
