Our Whitehall Briefings connect Whitehall officials and other key stakeholders for discussions on a range of topical geopolitical, geoeconomic and geostrategic issues, as well as domestic issues associated with the UK’s leadership on the global stage. A prominent Whitehall official discusses their knowledge and expertise before invited guests engage in discussion and offer valuable input and ideas.
The Whitehall Briefings take place once a month at the In and Out Naval and Military Club. Events are by invitation only and take place strictly off the record.
Keynote speaker
Kate White CMG
Strategy Director, The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development OfficeKate White is the Strategy Director at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). She is also a former Director for Trade and Economic Security and served as the interim Director General for Economics, Science, and Technology from November 2023 to January 2024. Previously, White was the Director for Asia Pacific from 2017 to 2021, where she advised on UK policy toward key countries, including the People’s Republic of China. She has held numerous head of department roles at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), covering global economic issues, climate change, international science cooperation, and human resources. Notably, she was the Joint Head of the International Energy Unit, a cross-government initiative formed by the FCO and the Department for Energy and Climate Change. White holds a degree in history from the University of Cambridge and was a Policy Fellow at Cambridge University’s Centre for Science and Policy from 2018 to 2020.

He is also: Chairman of the British Exporters Association; Director-General of the Durham Institute of Research, Development and Invention; Director of the Centre of Underwater Acoustic Analysis; Professor-in-Practice at Durham University Business School; Visiting Fellow of the Royal Navy Strategic Studies Centre; and Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology.
