On behalf of The Durham Institute of Research, Development & Invention (DIRDI) and the Council on Geostrategy, we are delighted to invite you to the official launch of the National Strategic Research Group (NSRG).
The event will take place on Wednesday, 4th February, at The In & Out Naval and Military Club.
The National Strategic Research Group (NSRG) is a new, public service-led instrument designed to support senior policymakers in Whitehall.
In an era of complex national security and strategic challenges, the NSRG will mobilise specialist expertise across government, industry, and academia to assist 1-4 star decision-makers and deliver fast, synthesised, and practical answers to complex questions for national strategy. Designed to generate asymmetric UK advantage, the group will provide a rapid ‘thought-consideration’ capability to analyse complex policy questions spanning foreign, defence, security, and economic domains giving policymakers time‑effective access to the leading edge of research. By closing the gap between these sectors, the NSRG will address critical questions that impact domestic stability, national security, and economic prosperity.
Nominally based at Pembroke College, Oxford, and underpinned by DIRDI, the NSRG will bring together over 100 senior thinkers, former military leaders, and industry experts. It will also provide a mechanism for specialists to contribute to policy development efficiently, ensuring expert voices are heard at the top table. Its mission is to help shape a long-term, non-partisan, national strategy fit for the 21st century and capable of enduring into the 22nd century.

- 19:00: Speeches featuring NSRG representation from DIRDI and the Council on Geostrategy;
- 19:30: Networking and drinks reception.
