As part of the International Sea Power Conference (ISPC) 2025, the Council on Geostrategy is pleased to host this university side event, held in partnership with the University of Hull. This mini-conference is titled: ‘NATO’s new maritime strategy and North Sea security’, and will take place at the Canham Turner building, University of Hull.
The mini-conference will host three sessions on the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation’s (NATO) recently revised maritime strategy and its implications for the United Kingdom (UK) and North Sea security. Session one, ‘NATO’s revised maritime strategy and North Sea security’, will outline the new strategy and examine its impacts for Britain and the North Sea.
Session two, ‘The North Sea energy region’, will focus on the importance of the North Sea to energy security and the maritime threats which the region faces.
The final session, ‘Cross border crime and the grey zone’, will provide an overview of the irregular security threats posed by criminal activity and the growing sub-threshold risks in the North Sea.
