Capita, in partnership with the Council on Geostrategy, is pleased to invite you to a special roundtable discussion and networking session celebrating the launch of the research paper entitled: ‘Technology’s integration in the British Armed Forces: Enhanced and accelerated training in the 21st century’. This paper is written by Dr Rob Johnson, Director of the Oxford Strategy, Statecraft, and Technology (Changing Character of War) Centre, University of Oxford.
The event will take place on Wednesday, 25th March, from 09:00-11:30, at The In & Out Naval and Military Club, 4 St James’s Square, London, SW1Y 4JU.
This paper contends that for the British Armed Forces to maintain a decisive advantage in an era of ‘net-centric’ warfare, the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into training and education is no longer optional – it is a strategic imperative. As the United Kingdom (UK) lacks traditional military mass, the Policy Paper explores how AI can close the gap, ultimately providing a roadmap for a pervasive, AI-ready digital culture that ensures human judgement is augmented by autonomous systems.
This roundtable will provide an overview of the Policy Paper from its author, and invite discussion on its findings and conclusions. It will then seek to move beyond the theoretical benefits of AI to address the ‘how’ of integrating AI into the UK’s defence training and education. By bringing together leaders from military command, the tech industry, and policymaking, we aim to forge a consensus on how to transform the British Armed Forces into a digitally fluent, technologically superior force. Dr Johnson will be joined by a selected senior panel to contribute to the discussion, with panellist names to be announced soon. Members of the media will not be present at this event.
