Our Geostrategy Forum convenes and connects prominent stakeholders for monthly breakfast discussions on key geostrategic issues and foreign, defence, and international trade policy matters. A keynote speaker discusses a prominent topic before invited guests exchange their views and ideas in a roundtable format.

H.E. Susanne Baumann

Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the United Kingdom

H.E. Susanne Baumann is German Ambassador to the United Kingdom, having assumed the position in September 2025. Prior to this, she has held multiple roles in the Federal Government of Germany, including as State Secretary for the Foreign Office from 2021 until 2025, Commissioner for Disarmament and Arms Control from 2018 until 2021, and Head of the Division for Security and Disarmament Policy from 2013 until 2015. She also served in positions at the German Embassy in Kuala Lumpur from 2002 until 2006, and as Deputy Head of Mission at the German Embassy in Phnom Penh from 1995 until 1998.

Dr Carl Stephen Patrick Hunter OBE is Chairman of Coltraco Ultrasonics, Chairman of the Council on Geostrategy Forum & Whitehall Briefings, Director the Centre for Underwater Acoustic Analysis, Director-General of the Durham Institute of Research, Development and Invention, Professor-in-Practice, Durham University, with his laboratory co-located with the Centre for Advanced Instrumentation, Department of Physics, Senior Research Fellow Strategy, Statecraft, Technology, Changing Character of War Centre, Pembroke College, Oxford, Visiting Fellow of the Royal Navy Strategic Studies Centre and Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology & the Royal Aeronautical Society. A former Greenjacket Officer, he was a member of the Covid-19 Economic Recovery Taskforce and advises several government departments.
