Join Sophie Katsarava, Nikoloz Samkharadze and Tom Tugendhat as they discuss the 30th anniversary of Georgia’s independence

About this event

On 26th May 2021, Georgia will celebrate 30 years of independence. The country’s road since the restoration of independence has been bumpy and full of challenges, including the Russian invasion back in 2008 which resulted in the illegal occupation of 20% of Georgian territory. Yet, at the same time, the country has made significant achievements in reforming itself, strengthening its democracy, building a free society and improving its economy.

Join this fascinating discussion with HE Sophie Katsarava MBE, the Ambassador of Georgia to the United Kingdom, Nick Samkharadze, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Georgian Parliament and Tom Tugendhat MP, Chair of the Foreign Affairs Select Committee to hear about Georgia’s evolution and British support for the security of the Black Sea region.
