The Council on Geostrategy and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung are pleased to invite you to attend our half-day conference, entitled: ‘British-German leadership in the new era of European geopolitics‘. The event will take place on Thursday, 19th June, from 09:00 to 13:00, at The Army & Navy Club (The Rag).

Since February 2022 (or arguably since 2014) the postmodern European order has given way to a more confrontational geopolitical reality. NATO is being challenged by Russia from the east and faces uncertainty regarding continued American engagement from the west. In this context, Britain and Germany, as Europe’s most powerful economies and key military actors, have a crucial role to play.

This conference will bring together leading British and German experts and policy makers to explore how both nations can work more closely to reinforce European stability and uphold the rules-based international order. Discussions will address the drivers behind renewed cooperation, with a particular focus on:

  • Enhancing forward deployments and strategic diplomacy in the Indo-Pacific and beyond;
  • Accelerating British-German defence-industrial collaboration;
  • Strengthening deterrence across Europe.

The conference will feature six expert speakers, with representation from both the Council on Geostrategy and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung.

Please note that this event is invitation only.
