The Sea Power Series convenes allied senior naval speakers and key stakeholders for in-depth discussions on pressing maritime developments within allied waters. These sessions focus on collaborative efforts with the Royal Navy, addressing shared challenges and exploring strategic opportunities. Each session opens with a presentation by a featured senior naval speaker on a prominent topic, followed by an open exchange of views and ideas in a roundtable setting.

These invitation-only bi-monthly sessions are held at the In and Out Naval and Military Club.

Keynote speaker

Cdr. Martin Walker

Naval Adviser, New Zealand High Commission

Cdr. Martin Walker is New Zealand Naval Adviser in London and non-resident Defence Attaché to Turkey, having assumed these joint roles in July 2025. He has served in the Royal New Zealand Navy for over three decades and held a variety of positions, including defence shore postings, as well as progressing from officer roles to command roles at sea. From May 2019 until April 2022, he served as Commanding Officer of HMNZS Canterbury.

Dr Carl Stephen Patrick Hunter OBE is Chairman of Coltraco Ultrasonics, Chairman of the Council on Geostrategy Forum & Whitehall Briefings, Director the Centre for Underwater Acoustic Analysis, Director-General of the Durham Institute of Research, Development and Invention, Professor-in-Practice, Durham University, with his laboratory co-located with the Centre for Advanced Instrumentation, Department of Physics, Senior Research Fellow Strategy, Statecraft, Technology, Changing Character of War Centre, Pembroke College, Oxford, Visiting Fellow of the Royal Navy Strategic Studies Centre and Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology & the Royal Aeronautical Society. A former Greenjacket Officer, he was a member of the Covid-19 Economic Recovery Taskforce and advises several government departments.
