18 May at 09:00 – 12:00 BST
The Council on Geostrategy, in partnership with Lockheed Martin UK, is delighted to invite you to a half-day conference, entitled ‘Cooperation on defence-industrial strategy’, as part of our UK-US Strategic Forum series. The event will take place from 09:00-12:00 on 18th May, 2026, at Make UK, Broadway House, Tothill Street, London, SW1H 9NQ.
At the operational level, the UK-US relationship is one of – if not the – deepest and most functional between any two allies. Forged in the geopolitical contests of the 20th century against mutual threats of continental hegemons, the ‘special relationship’ has served the shared interests of both countries. But this relationship is changing. Britain and America’s interests are no longer as closely aligned, and at the strategic level, the bilateral relationship is often taken for granted and therefore insufficiently explored. The Council on Geostrategy and Lockheed Martin UK will convene a series of strategic fora dedicated to exploring key geostrategic issues related to the ‘special relationship’ to help close this growing gap.
This second session will discuss the areas of synergy and friction within UK-US defence industrial strategy, highlighted by the mutual need for supply chain resilience, technological integration, and the urgent need to increase capacity. The forum will bring together key British and American stakeholders from government and industry to explore how both nations can effectively navigate barriers to accelerate joint capability development. What specific collaborative frameworks are required to secure critical defence supply chains, and how can the UK better leverage initiatives like AUKUS to ensure a seamless, highly interoperable defence industrial base with the US?
