Prof. James Henry Bergeron

Main areas of expertise: NATO maritime strategy, maritime security and NATO-EU relations
Prof. James Bergeron is Political Adviser to the Commander at NATO Allied Maritime Command. He has previously served as a foreign policy adviser to ten senior American and NATO commanders in maritime and joint expeditionary operations, including as Political Adviser to the Commander for Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO. He is regularly consulted on NATO maritime strategy and NATO-EU relations, and contributed to drafting the Allied Maritime Strategy.

Dr Sari Arho Havrén

Main areas of expertise: Chinese-Russian relations, Arctic geopolitics, great power competition
Dr Sari Arho Havrén is a Senior Geopolitical Adviser for Business Finland, an Associate Fellow at RUSI and a Visiting Researcher at the University of Helsinki. She is also a certified futurist from the Institute for the Future, and has written numerous works on Chinese foreign relations, great power competition and the future of geopolitics. Previously, she was Europe-China Policy Fellow at MERICS, followed by Adjunct Professor at the George C. Marshall European Centre for Security Studies.

Dr Henning Hoff

Main areas of expertise: German and European foreign and security policy
Dr Henning Hoff is Executive Editor of Internationale Politik Quarterly and Editor-at-Large of Internationale Politik. Previously, he worked as a foreign correspondent in London for almost a decade before co-founding the international journalism publishing house Weltkiosk in 2010. He joined Internationale Politik and its publisher, the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP), in 2011. His writing has also appeared in The Economist, the Wall Street Journal and Deutsche Welle, among other publications.

Joshua C. Huminski

Main areas of expertise: American national security and policy, UK-US relations, Euro-Atlantic defence and security
Joshua C. Huminski is the Senior Vice President for National Security and Intelligence at the Centre for the Study of the Presidency and Congress. He frequently writes for American and European outlets, appears on international news networks, and serves as national security adviser to Rep. Mike Rogers, former House Intelligence Committee Chairman and current Senate candidate. He is also currently writing a book on the future of Euro-Atlantic defence and security relations after the war in Ukraine.

Prof. Nobukatsu Kanehara

Main areas of expertise:  Japanese grand strategy, United States, People’s Republic of China, Korea, and European security and foreign policy
Prof. Nobukatsu Kanehara is a Professor at Reitaku University, Kashiwa, Japan. Previously, he served in the Government of Japan as Assistant Chief Cabinet Secretary and Deputy Secretary-General of the National Security Secretariat between 2013 and 2019. He also served abroad as Deputy Chief of Mission in Seoul, Minister at the Embassy of Japan in the United States and Minister of the Permanent Mission of Japan to the United Nations.

Dr Alexander Lanoszka

Main areas of expertise: Security challenges in Europe, military strategy and intra-NATO relations
Dr Alexander Lanoszka is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Waterloo, Canada, having previously been a Lecturer in the Department of International Politics at City, University of London. Before this, he was a Stanton Nuclear Security Postdoctorate Fellow at MIT, and a US Foreign Policy/International Security Fellow at Dartmouth College. He has also published books on military alliances and nuclear proliferation.

Mihoko Matsubara

Main areas of expertise: Cybersecurity and policy, emerging and disruptive technologies, and international cyber cooperation
Mihoko Matsubara is Chief Cybersecurity Strategist at NTT, Inc. in Tokyo, where she is responsible for delivering cybersecurity thought leadership. Previously, she served in the Japanese Ministry of Defence before achieving an MA at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies on Fulbright. She is an Associate Fellow in Cyber Power and Future Conflict at the International Institute for Strategic Studies and an award-winning author of three books on cybersecurity and resilience lessons from Ukraine.

Dr Jeffrey Ordaniel

Main areas of expertise: Maritime security and governance, ASEAN regionalism and South China Sea geopolitics
Dr Jeffrey Ordaniel is President and CEO of We Protect our Seas (WPS), a Manila-based maritime security think tank. He is also Associate Professor of International Security Studies at Tokyo International University, and lead convener for the Manila Dialogue on the South China Sea and the Annual Dialogue on ASEAN Maritime Security. From 2016 to 2019, he held the Admiral Joe Vasey Fellowship at the Pacific Forum in Honolulu, before serving as Director of the Forum’s Maritime Security Programme from 2020 to 2025.

Jennifer Parker

Main areas of expertise: Defence policy, military strategy, military operations, force design, maritime security and international maritime law
Jennifer Parker is the Founder and Principal of Barrier Strategic Advisory, providing expert counsel on maritime strategy and Indo-Pacific security. She is an Adjunct Fellow in Naval Studies at UNSW Canberra and an Expert Associate at the ANU National Security College. A leading strategic thinker in Australia, she is cited frequently in national and international media. A former Royal Australian Navy warfare officer, she brings over two decades of operational and leadership experience to her research, policy and advisory work.

George Scutaru

Main areas of expertise: Russia, Romanian security and defence policy, and energy and security challenges in the Black Sea region
George Scutaru is a co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of the New Strategy Centre, a Romanian security and foreign affairs think tank established in 2015. Prior to this, he served in the Parliament of Romania in the Chamber of Deputies, holding positions on the Committee on Defence and National Security as Secretary from 2004-2008, and as Vice-Chair from 2008-2014. Between 2014 and 2015, he was National Security Adviser to the President of Romania.

Grace Theodoulou

Main areas of expertise: UK-China relations, EU-China relations, China’s tech ecosystem
Grace Theodoulou is a former Policy Fellow at the Council on Geostrategy, where she headed the China Observatory, advising MPs on UK-China relations and giving oral evidence to the Foreign Affairs Committee on the PRC’s disinformation ecosystem. She has appeared on Sky News and the BBC, alongside other local and international media outlets. Previously, she worked in the Economic Division of the Taipei Representative Office in London, conducting trade policy analysis in Mandarin.

Patrick Triglavcanin

Main areas of expertise: Britain’s Indo-Pacific engagement, AUKUS, UK-Australia relations and Australian foreign policy
Patrick Triglavcanin is a Research Assistant at the Defence and Strategic Institute at the University of Western Australia. Prior to this, he was Research Officer at the Council on Geostrategy from 2022 to 2024. He has a BA in Law and Society from the University of Western Australia, and an MA in International Relations and National Security Studies from Curtin University.
