15 June at 13:00 – 17:00 BST
The Council on Geostrategy, in partnership with Lockheed Martin UK, is delighted to invite you to a hybrid half-day conference, entitled ‘Priorities for UK-US capabilities collaboration’, as part of our UK-US Strategic Forum series. The event will take place from 13:00-17:00 on 18th May, 2026, at ADS Group Ltd, 9 Salamanca Street, Albert Embankment, London SE1 7SP.
At the operational level the UK-US relationship is one of, if not the, deepest and most functional between any two allies. Forged in the geopolitical contests of the 20th century against mutual threats of continental hegemons, the ‘special relationship’ has served the shared interests of both countries. But this relationship is changing, Britain and the US’s interests are no longer as closely aligned and at the strategic level the bilateral is often taken for granted and therefore insufficiently explored. The Council on Geostrategy, in partnership with Lockheed Martin UK, will convene a series of strategic forums dedicated to exploring key geostrategic issues related to the ‘special relationship’ to help bridge this growing gap.
This third session will examine the evolving landscape of UK-US capability collaboration, focusing on the prioritisation of next-generation platforms and the integration of emerging technologies. As both nations pivot towards a more contested global environment, the need to develop asymmetric capabilities more rapidly, as well as bolster capacity in existing capabilities, has grown sharply. This forum will convene senior leaders to address how the UK can maintain its status as a ‘tier-one’ partner through refreshed collaboration on capability development and acquisition. The session will explore which areas the UK should focus on to bolster its strategic indispensability, as well as what trade-offs this level of prioritisation might require.
